In this piece of work, Traditional Depth Search Algorithm and a Proposed Modified Depth Search Algorithm are adopted to solve judicious µPMU placement problem. Proposed Methods are tested on 40 and 85 IEEE radial distribution feeder, randomly integrated with distributed energy resources. Abstract

Evolution of Phasor Measurement Units (PMU) improves the power system estimator’s performance. PMUs are widely use in transmission systems and by considering its contribution there, it is expected that in future it will be used in distribution networks. First and foremost step towards implementation of micro-PMUs in distribution system is to determine optimal location of µPMUs. Since PMUs are generally used in transmission systems so mostly algorithms related to optimal placement (OPP) are not considered the radial structure of distribution network.
