Abstract
The architecture, analysis and performance of Coupled Inductor based Isolated Voltage Multiplier Converter (CII-VMC) feeding the passive load is presented in the paper. The presented circuit topology distributes the responsibilities of boosting of voltage gain to its three section, viz, input boost section (IBS), voltage multiplier section (VMS) and transformer section (TS). The uniqueness of proposed converter for utilizing the preliminary interleaved boosting, followed by voltage multiplier technique harnessing high voltage gain while inheriting the galvanic isolation with gain through high frequency center tapped transformer makes it capable of operating with very high gain with higher efficiency. A 750W CII-VMC with step up from 40V to 400V is presented in the paper. The comparative analysis of the cumulative and differential coupling and coefficient of coupling in the interleaved boost stage is also analyzed. The steady state and dynamic performance of the coupled inductor under load transient and its effects on the multiplier stage in terms of current ripple is presented through results. The performance of CII-VMC is simulated under the MATLAB environment and the results are validated through analysis.
