Proposal for the application of soft computing in the study of university dropout in Mexico

Abstract

In this paper a proposal for the application of soft computing in the study of university dropout in Mexico is presented. The authors make an analysis of researches in Latin America by means of the applies any type of soft computing technology. The scholar dropout is a recurring phenomenon in this region, in any of the educational levels, which effects impact in negative way in welfare level of the young. The vast majority of Latin young study at Institutions of Public Superior Education (IEPS) where, the rate of terminal efficiency is low. Although, they are many social programs which seek to prevent this situation, it is clear that the major problem is the timely identification of at-risk students. Finally, the application of soft computing techniques are a current option to understand this kind of social phenomena, in a concrete case: Subsystem of Thecnological and Politechnical Universities in Mexico.
