Wind load is one of the major components taken into serious consideration during the building construction process. The potential impacts that wind load can bring to structures include causing the building to experience lateral deformation, and vibration, especially for the taller building. To prevent the building from experience deformation and collapse, engineers have discovered calculation procedures to estimate the potential wind loads that would be applied to the buildings to improve the stability and safety level. In this paper, I broke down formulas from two famous wind loads determination methods including the ASCE 7 wind load determination method and wind load determination method through Load Code for the Design of Building Structures to find the more conservative method while providing a higher level of safety insurance under the wind loads condition. The study I have reviewed showed that the wind load determination method through Load Code for the Design of Building Structures is overall a well-developed method that can be widely used in calculating wind loads applied to the building; this method can provide a high safety level for building resistance toward wind loads.
