Analysis of Factors Affecting Life Satisfaction of Retired Disabled people - Comparison following Non-disabled group and Disability Characteristics-

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors affecting the life satisfaction of retired, disabled people, utilizing the eighth data of the Korean Retirement and Income Study(KReLS), analyzed following the disability, gender, types and time of occurrence of disability. The independent variable consisted of individual, health, economic, and retirement factors, and the dependent variable was life satisfaction after retirement. Descriptive statistics, t-tests, and linear regression analysis were performed for analysis. The results are as follows. First, retired non-disabled people showed higher life satisfaction than disabled people. Among the disabled group, women, physically disabled people, and disabled people who had disabilities before their retirement showed higher satisfaction than men, disabled people whose disability is not physical, and acquired disabilities after retirement. Second, the retired non-disabled group showed significance in economic variables and physical health. Third, when comparing gender, different variables affect men and women. Fourth, in other types of disabilities, retirement autonomy showed significance. Fifth, comparing the occurrence of disability, disabled people who obtained disabilities before retirement showed significance in individual factors. In contrast, the group who obtained disabilities after retirement showed limitations in daily life. This study suggested a support plan for improving life satisfaction for retired, disabled people.
