Abstract
Traditional Chinese ink painting has developed continuously over a period of more than three thousand years. Simulating the traditional painting art by computer graphics is a challenging and attractive subject. In this paper we describe how to synthesize a complete Chinese ink painting. First of all, we propose a brush model. We initialize a data structure of brush to simulate different brushworks and use this data structures to parameterize the brush model and its behavior. Based on this model, we can implement a particular artistic effect "half-dry". In order to simulate the Chinese ink painting more natural and realistic, we propose a new diffusion algorithm based on fractal, which is based on the method of random midpoint displacement. By all the methods above we can simulate Chinese ink painting realistically and naturally.
