Abstract

Renewable energy resources could be integrated with other combined heat and power (CHP) systems in remote areas. For PV/T panels as a renewable CHP, energy storage systems such as fuel cell are necessary. In this study, optimal sizing of hybrid PV/T-fuel cell is developed. A heuristic optimization algorithm is used and, the simulation results are presented for two case studies. It is shown that using PV/T as CHP system total cost is reduced as compared with separated heat and power. Also, hybrid PV/T-fuel cell results in total cost reduction due to capability of fuel cell to store electrical and heat energy.
