Abstract
Introduction: Commuting accidents (CAs) caused significant detrimental impacts on the Malaysian fire department. Therefore, this study aims to identify factors of CA by mainly focusing on environmental factors. Methodology: The qualitative data was obtained from accident investigation reports from five states (Kedah, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan and Johor) between 2017-2021. The data were analysed using content analysis. Results: The identified environmental factors categories were 1) environmental conditions, 2) time, 3) road conditions and 4) road environment. Conclusion: These findings provide valuable information on environmental factors that contributed to accidents among firefighters, which could be useful for future research and intervention plans. Keywords: Commuting accident – environmental factor - firefighter
