Abstract

Rapid sequence induction (RSI) is defined as the administration of a hypnotic agent and a neuromuscular relaxant consecutively (virtually simultaneously), as well as other procedures to facilitate orotracheal intubation in the critically ill patient and reduce the risk of aspiration.
