Antibiotic resistance is a worldwide burden in healthcare setting. It is a global concern as a medical outcome due to overuse and/ or misuse of the antibiotics in treating patients. It is crucial to be reflected and to be addressed continuously whether on healthcare level and/ or on public health level. It is both public health and global health concern.

Heavy metals are an integral part of nature and play an important role in the lives of living species at trace levels. These become toxic when in excess in the organisms. Therefore, this study investigated the bioaccumulation of lead (Pb) in some birds and plant species in rapidly degrading mining sites in three selected Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Nasarawa State, Central Nigeria, from June 2017 to May 2018. Birds were trapped using mist nets.

Embolism is mostly associated with arterial rather than venous injury, and with neuronal infarction rather than waste of myelin. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune inflammatory disease of the central nervous system (CNS) with difficult differential diagnosis. MS and stroke have general risk factors. The immune mechanisms of stroke are similar to neurodegenerative diseases and are adjunct to neuroinflammation.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative pathology characterized by the formation in the brain of β-amyloid-containing plaques and tau-containing neurofibrillary tangles (NFT). Today, the pharmacological treatments of AD are very limited and novel therapeutic strategies are required.

One of the staple hazards in construction is silica dust which is produced from materials such as concrete, brick, sand, and stones. It causes respiratory diseases like renal diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases and silicosis when inhaled for a long time or in high levels. Zambia’s construction industry recorded symptoms of respiratory diseases which were attributed to exposure to dust by the Occupational Health Safety Institute. Also, there is a high likelihood of an increase in the generation of dust and possible exposure to silica dust from high volumes of construction projects as Zambia prepares to become a middle-income country by 2030.

SARS-CoV-2 infection and the subsequent development of the COVID-19 pandemic, as is known, particularly affected certain segments of the population, respectively a series of systems and organs such as the lungs, kidneys, liver, heart, and brain, which were identified as priority organs. Liver diseases are considered a particular risk factor for the high mortality caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) has been a beacon of hope for millions of couples experiencing infertility, contributing to 1-5% of all births in developed nations. However, the success rate of IVF treatments is still a concern, with many treatments failing. Based on the available scientific literature, this opinion piece emphasizes the importance of implantation rate as a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and the critical role of optimized embryo culture conditions in enhancing the success rates of IVF treatments.

Infection with high-risk Human Papillomavirus (HR-HPV) is the main factor to prime cervical cancer (CC). Currently, the primary prevention of CC through prophylactic vaccines allows protection against the main oncogenic genotypes of HR-HPVs and could supposed to be the most effective solution in underdeveloped countries. However, its effectiveness in protecting women over 35 years of age against a primary infection, or reinfections, is unclear, and no significant therapeutic effects have been observed on the available prophylactic vaccines to clear existing infections or cervical lesions. Therefore, the design of therapeutic vaccines, capable of eliminating infected cells, is imperative. The present review is focused on the current panorama of HPV therapeutic vaccination as a secondary prevention approach.

This study is performed in eight databases and the retrieval period is from inception to October 2022. Only randomized controlled trials of acupuncture and moxibustion for allergic rhinitis in children were included. The experimental group received acupuncture or acupuncture combined with other measures (such as western medicine, massage, and application). The control group received western medicine or other traditional Chinese treatment measures (excluding acupuncture).

Subcutaneous abscesses in neonates are mainly caused by local infections with indwelling intravascular catheters. Candida albicans is a pathogen that is rarely associated with subcutaneous abscesses. In the present case, the patient was delivered vaginally after premature rupture of membranes for 3 weeks.
