Efficiency Analysis of Turkish Agricultural Enterprises in the Context of Sustainability

Abstract

Factors such as technological advances that emerged as a result of globalization, intensification, and acceleration of competition, increasing environmental awareness and natural resources becoming important have caused all businesses to use their resources more efficiently. In this context, the main purpose of our article is to analyze whether the enterprises operating in the agriculture and food sector operating in Borsa Istanbul in 2021 use their resources efficiently with Data Envelopment Analysis in the light of sustainability and financial data. 28 enterprises operating in the agriculture and food sector registered in Borsa Istanbul are included in the analysis, and 5 of the enterprises are also included in the Sustainability index. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that while 19 enterprises were effective, 9 enterprises were found to be ineffective and improvement suggestions were prepared for the ineffective enterprises.
