Abstract

In nature, wild boars play a key role in the spread of African Swine Fever virus. It is important to take into account the role of different vectors to assess the environmental and epidemiological risks of ASF outbreaks. Insects can only be mechanical, but non-biological carriers of the virus between wild boars and pigs. This transmission is limited in space. Rodents and wild birds are the most likely potential mechanical carriers of the ASF virus, and measures aimed at preventing the illegal disposal of dead pigs and wild boars help to reduce their role in the spread of ASF.
