It has been found that music-theoretical training of future music teachers is the training of students of higher music-pedagogical education, which is realized primarily in the process of studying music-theoretical disciplines and is characterized by a certain level of development of teacher's personality, the degree of formation of competence system for music-pedagogical activity. Task and significance of the outlined training in professional formation of future music teachers is highlighted. Content of music-theoretical training of future teachers of musical art is characterized, formed by the development of musical abilities (spatial sense, musical-auditory perception, musical-rhythmic sense), the system of musical-theoretical knowledge and related skills, as well as ability to apply them practically in educational and professional activities. It is emphasized that implementation of the outlined tasks is carried out in the process of studying the following music-theoretical disciplines: Elementary Music Theory, Solfeggio, Harmony, Analysis of Musical Works and Polyphony, History of Ukrainian and Foreign Music. Purpose, tasks and significance of each of the specified disciplines in the musical-theoretical training of students of higher music-pedagogical education have been analyzed. Ways to improve effectiveness of music-theoretical training of future music teachers are outlined.
