Abstract

Cardiac dysregulation, specifically perturbations in heart rate constitutes a pivotal factor influencing the morbidity and mortality associated with diverse pathological conditions including angina (chronic/stable), acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, renal failure, respiratory distress, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, multiorgan dysfunction syndrome, mitral valve prolapse, and mitral stenosis. The pharmacological apparatus for heart rate control refined over decades encompasses various classes of agents each adhering to specific protocols.
