Abstract
Measurements of active power losses to corona in overhead transmission lines of ultrahigh voltage have established that these losses are a function of voltage (fourth to eighth) degree. A methodology, algorithm, and software implementation for modeling an active power losses to corona as a voltage function are proposed, taking into account the voltage distribution along the line. A program has been developed in the form of a computational module based on a long-line equation. Active power losses to corona are taken into account in the form of nonlinear conductivity. The program can be used to simulate steady-state conditions of AC overhead lines, as well as in design, analysis of optimal operating modes, and comparative analysis of the accuracy of simplified models.
