Abstract
Centrifugal pumps are widely used in industrial and municipal water affairs, but as the equipment ages or the fluid is abnormal, some mechanical and fluid failures will occur. These failure forms include loose fault, imbalance fault, misalignment fault, bearing fault, cavitation, water hammer, abnormal flow passage, etc. To address these issues, this study proposes a predictive and preventative maintenance (PPM) program that incorporates four areas and six parameters that define a pump's performance. The program uses smart sensors and digital Internet of Things (IoT) systems to monitor the real-time running status of centrifugal pumps and perform signal acquisition, analysis, feature extraction, and fault diagnosis. The study also conducted experiments to simulate various failures of centrifugal pumps and verified the effectiveness of the PPM program. The results show that the program can effectively perform the intelligent operation and maintenance of pump units, which can improve the reliability and efficiency of centrifugal pumps.
Highlight :
A predictive and preventative maintenance (PPM) program for centrifugal pumps incorporates four areas and six parameters that define a pump's performance.
The program uses smart sensors and digital Internet of Things (IoT) systems to monitor the real-time running status of centrifugal pumps and perform signal acquisition, analysis, feature extraction, and fault diagnosis.
The PPM program can effectively perform the intelligent operation and maintenance of pump units, which can improve the reliability and efficiency of centrifugal pumps.
Keywords: centrifugal pumps, predictive and preventative maintenance, smart sensors, IoT systems, fault diagnosis.
