STUDY OF THE PARTICIPIAL FORMS OF THE ARMENIAN LANGUAGE IN THE SYSTEM OF THE THEORY OF THE VERB A. ABRAHAMYAN (According to the monograph "The Verb in Modern Armenian")

Abstract

The article briefly analyzes the participle  forms of Modern Armenian in the theory of A. A. Abrahamyan in his monograph "The Verb in Modern Armenian".   We show that Abrahamyan distinguishes the category of grammatical state, which differs, for example, from the Russian corresponding category (category of  state).  Further, we give the following semantic grouping made by the venerable linguist: 1) brief, vague, weak manifestation, 2) expressive but not expressing a temporal state, 3) expressing a general temporal state, without omitting the attention of other researchers - M. Abeghyan, H. Acharyan, E. Aghayan, G. Jahukyan and G. Sevak.   А. Abrahamyan singles out a new type of participle form (i.e. ընթացակցական դերբայ [ǝntcakccakan derbay] "accompanying participle form"), clarifies some other similar forms, especially on the basis of their function. The theoretical analysis and distinctions are substantiated by the textual examples given, taken not only from Modern Literary Armenian, but also from its dialects. It should also be noted that such classification, repeatedly take place in the researches of specialists of Modern Literary Armenian.
