Redes do imperialismo na agenda do combate à desinformação

Abstract

In less than a decade, a new paradigm, which argued that the world was experiencing an “information disorder”, took the international academic debate by storm. This study explores the hypothesis that forces outside academia sponsored the emergence of this new paradigm and seeks to investigate what were these forces, how they acted, and what their objectives were. This study argues that the expansion of the information disorder paradigm constitutes a process of intellectual imperialism that mainly aims to provide institutions based in the United States and its allies with the global authority to define what is or is not disinformation.
