Abstract
This essay reflects on the theoretical bases and methodologies around the concept of mediation to bring knowledge about its approach in issues of Revista Comunicação & Educação, the main publisher of studies in the area in Brazil. It mainly focuses on educommunicative mediation. This exploratory study establishes an intentional sampling to consider the configuration of production by periods, authors, and methodological approaches. It concluded that mediation has persisted over the years as a theme (recently increasing) and that most authors come from southeastern Brazil, especially those affiliated with ECA-USP. This study describes the most cited articles and authors, evaluating the perspectives of cultural mediation and technological mediation as areas of greater visibility.
