Abstract
Nonlinear optics (NLO) is an extremely critical research area. In recent years, covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have attracted much attention as a potential NLO material. In this study, a series of COF materials with different D-A effects were successfully synthesized based on the excellent electron-donating properties of the triphenylamine group and were prepared into D-A COFs\KBr sheet materials that can be used for third-order NLO by the KBr−pressing method. The results of the open-aperture Z-scan technique showed that all COFs\KBr sheets exhibited saturable absorption (SA) behavior at 3 μJ, with nonlinear absorption coefficients (β) of −1.64, −1.23, and −2.02 × 10−9 mW−1 for PT-PA, PT-BD, and PT-TZ, respectively. Theoretical calculations show that the electron transport distance of PT-PA is shorter than that of PT-BD, while the introduction of S atoms makes the D-A effect of PT-TZ stronger than that of PT-BD, and thus the SA properties of PT-PA and PT-TZ are better than those of PT-BD. These works indicate that the COFs\KBr sheets have a potential application as high-performance NLO materials and also provide an option for COFs powder application in the field of third-order NLO.

Dyes and Pigments covers the scientific and technical aspects of the chemistry and physics of dyes, pigments and their intermediates. Emphasis is placed on the properties of the colouring matters themselves rather than on their applications or the system in which they may be applied.
Thus the journal accepts research and review papers on the synthesis of dyes, pigments and intermediates, their physical or chemical properties, e.g. spectroscopic, surface, solution or solid state characteristics, the physical aspects of their preparation, e.g. precipitation, nucleation and growth, crystal formation, liquid crystalline characteristics, their photochemical, ecological or biological properties and the relationship between colour and chemical constitution. However, papers are considered which deal with the more fundamental aspects of colourant application and of the interactions of colourants with substrates or media.
The journal will interest a wide variety of workers in a range of disciplines whose work involves dyes, pigments and their intermediates, and provides a platform for investigators with common interests but diverse fields of activity such as cosmetics, reprographics, dye and pigment synthesis, medical research, polymers, etc.
