Modernização por expropriação: a ditadura civil-militar no Vale do rio Pindaré-MA

Abstract

This article focuses on the strategies of criminalization of farmers, squatters, residents in the Pindare river valley in Maranhao, as a form of expropriation, from torture. The sources used were a dossier of the Police Of Political and Social Order of Maranhao, documents of a collection left by priest Victor Asselin, first president of the Pastoral Commission of the Land of Maranhao and memories of Manoel da Conceicao Santos, one of the main leaders of the farmers of the region.
