Este artículo traza un itinerario por la obra crítica de Mariano Baquero Goyanes desde su reconocida afición al arte de la música. Desde sus primeras investigaciones en los años cincuenta, como en "Tiempo en tempo en la novela" (1954), las referencias a las técnicas y formas musicales así como a la historia de la música fecundan e iluminan de modo original y precursora su aportación científica a la crítica literaria.
