Phytochemical analysis and cytotoxicity evaluation of flowering buds of Bauhinia variegata L.

Results: The highest levels of phenolics, flavonoids and terpenoids were observed in methanol extract with respective standard drugs. The aminoacid content was highest followed by phenol and flavonoids in crude aqueous extract of the raw materials. In cytotoxic studies (brine shrimp lethality assay) the use of methanol extract was reported as potent with LD50 of 241.778 µg/ml as compared to aqueous extract with LD50 of 489.7061 µg/ml. Conclusion: This study reveals that the presence of bioactive compounds in both extracts are responsible for the treatment of various ailments and being utilized by the traditional folks as a food as well. 简介:紫荆在巴基斯坦被用于传统医药。目的:对紫荆花蕾粗提物和甲醇提取物进行植物化学筛选和细胞毒性测定。方法:采用标准方案对两种提取物进行定性和定量的植物化学筛选,同时用卤虾致死率测定法对两种提取液进行细胞毒性分析。结果:不同标准药物的甲醇提取物中酚类、黄酮类和萜类含量最高。原料粗提液中氨基酸含量最高,其次为苯酚和黄酮类化合物。在细胞毒性研究(卤虾致死率测定)中,据报道,与LD50为489.7061µg/ml的水提取物相比,甲醇提取物的LD50为241.778µg/ml的使用效果良好。结论:这项研究表明,这两种提取物中都存在生物活性化合物,它们有助于治疗各种疾病,并被传统人用作食物。结果表明,甲醇提取物具有细胞毒性,其增值需要进一步的科学干预。
