Abstract
We describe a 'functional' conditioning protocol and implant system for skeletal muscle ventricles that utilize a combination of high-frequency burst electrical stimulation and progressive volume expansion. Results indicate that this approach can produce fatigue-resistant, large volume, powerful skeletal muscle ventricles able to work against physiological pressures.
