The bibliographic details of 577bioinformatics data obtained from the WoS database were studied and it was found that among the total bioinformatics contributions, nearly half are from India. Majority of the contributions were multi-authored and the degree of collaboration was 0.93 and most of the publications were in the form of journal articles. BMC Bioinformatics published by Bio Med Central ranks first position with 28 publications followed by In Silico Biology (IOP press) with 24 publications. IISc, Bengaluru is the most productive bioinformatics research institute in the country followed by ISI, Kolkata. Delhi is the leading state with 6.41% of the total Indian contribution in bioinformatics followed by West Bengal with 5.37% publications.
