The links and differences will be discussed between this new radar and traditional phased array radar, then the mathematical theory illustrates how the direction (including elevation and azimuth) is controlled by coding combination. Metasurface antenna can also achieve good performance of target detection based on beam-scanning. This is proved by the simulation in the situation of single point target where the distance, azimuth and elevation are detected by impulse compression operation. Abstract
