Abstract

Voltage stability analysis is an important study performed by transmission system operators. Most of the time, the studies are performed off-line. However, bringing this analysis on-line with actual real-time data provides significantly more accurate results and alerts operators when there is an issue. Bigwood Systems has deployed real-time voltage stability tools across electric utility control centers around the world since 2003. Since then, there has been lessons learned and continued development on the real-time tools for voltage stability. The following paper highlights developments and uses.
