Troubles cutanés et muqueux provoqués par le travail des bois tropicaux en Belgique

Abstract

Les auteurs reprennent les conclusions d'une enquête épidémiologique effectuée dans l'industrie du bois en Belgique et visant à l'étude des troubles cutanés et muqueux provoqués par le travail des bois tropicaux.

Ils insistent sur la spécificité des postes de travail existant dans une entreprise, où ils ont pu mettre en évidence des troubles cutanéo-muqueux en rapport avec l'exposition à des poussières de 12 essences de bois tropicaux.

L'attention est attirée sur les difficultés d'identification précise de ces espèces.

Enfin ils évoquent les recherches dermato-allergiques entreprises en vue de déterminer des poussières d'autres essences tropicales.

The authors take as their starting point for a study of cutaneous and mucosal disorders caused by working with certain tropical woods an epidemiological survey carried out in the wood-working industry in Belgium.

They draw attention to the specificity of the jobs available with a firm in which they were able to show the connection between cutaneo-mucosal disorders and exposure to the dust of 12 tropical species.

The difficulty of identifying these species accurately is pointed out.

Finally they mention the dermato-allergic research projects which have been undertaken with a view to determining the allergenic role of the dusts of other tropical species.
