Jafar Tahir is a modern day poet who did not get the attention he deserved. In addition to ghazals, he tried his hand at many genres, including cantos. Jafar's living conditions are as unknown as his poetry. Some critics and researchers have tried to bring this poet before Majeed Amjad's peers. Some research theses were also compiled on Jafar Tahir.
