The advantages of using microstrip spiral antenna in ground-penetrating radars are presented. Parametric researches of the characteristics of a spiral antenna have been carried out. Features of a spiral antenna such as small weight and size are substantiated. The synthesis of the antenna design in modern CAD systems such as Antenna Magus, FEKO is given. A new technique of microstrip spiral antenna's digital simulation on the base of optimization of standing wave ratio and its pattern are described. The experimental results of standing wave ratio’s measuring of the developed an microstrip spiral antenna are presented.
