Performance Analysis of Uplink V2I Cooperative Transmission Scheme in Practical Road Environments
In an advanced driver assistance system, cooperative intelligent transportation system (ITS), with low-latency and high-quality wireless communication between the base station and the vehicle is required. For this purpose, we have proposed an uplink vehicle-to-vehicle cooperative relay transmission scheme, in which the uplink quality for a vehicle located at a far distance from the base station (far vehicle) can be improved by the assistance of a nearer relay vehicle (relay vehicle), thus avoiding the time-consuming upper layer retransmission. However, in our previous study, it was assumed that the pairing of the far and near (relay) vehicles had been made, which was actually not practical. The realistic probability of pairing, considering the movement of vehicles and an efficient selecting scheme of the pair, was not considered. Therefore, in this paper, we have analyzed the pairing probability of the cooperative transmission using Simulation of Urban Mobility (SUMO) simulator software with the conditions of a straight road and an intersection with traffic lights. From these results, the transmission performances are calculated.
