The efficiency performance of any power semiconductor system is currently main qualitative indicator due to several reasons. Therefore, the evaluation of the power losses is one of the initial stages of design of power converter to properly estimate requirements on thermal performance as well, thus optimized cooling system can be realized. Because currently there are various procedure how to estimate power dissipation, the focus here is given on the comparison of the results received from piece-wised linear simulator and from mathematical calculations recommended for analyzed converter topology. The main aim of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of piece-wised linearized simulators, whether simplification of the simulation analysis potentially reduces usability of the information relevant for efficiency estimation.
