Novel Power Reserve Control Strategy For Single Stage Grid Connected Photovoltaic Systems
Many countries in their grid codes have assigned the grid frequency control function to the photovoltaic (PV) systems to handle the ever increasing of PV systems integration into power grid. In order to have power reserve for providing the upward frequency regulation in the case of falling grid frequency, these PV systems are operated at an active power less than the maximum available power according to these grid codes. Previously published power reserve control strategies are either very complex to implement or they have used the expensive solar irradiation and temperature sensors. Hence this paper has proposed a novel power reserve control strategy which is very easy to implement and do not require expensive solar irradiation and temperature sensors. Performance of the proposed power reserve control strategy is verified for the change in the power reserve command using MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation results.
