The positive ions are assumed to be uniformly distributed in a cone while the electrons are assumed to be uniformly distributed in a hemisphere at the head of the avalanche. A computer programs are written and used to compute the negative corona threshold voltage for SF over a wide range of the geometerical parameters and gas pressures.
