However, with the increase of installation on rooftop, risk of potential fire and safety threats, in which fire-fighters and emergency response teams are unable to respond due to risk of shock hazard. Therefore, NEC 2017 introduced Section 690.12, \"Rapid Shutdown for PV Systems on Buildings\", requires inside the array boundary solar panels to be de-energized to 30 volts or less of initiation of a rapid shutdown event.
