A Case Study on PV System Performance and LCOE of 15.6 kW Hybrid Solar PV System Installed at CST
This paper presents long term performance analysis of 15.6 kW hybrid solar photovoltaic system installed at College of Science and Technology, Rinchending, Bhutan. Data for one year from Photovoltaic hybrid system is collected and analysed. Losses due to shading are also analyzed and found that shading affects only in winter. Energy and economic performances of the system were also calculated using relevant empirical formulae. From the result, the estimated cost of generation is US$ 0.13/kWh or Nu.9/kWh. To install PV system is not financially viable at current electricity tariff in Bhutan, however due to its clean energy and environmental advantage, solar energy harvest is always preferable despite the high cost factor comparing to cheap hydropower in Bhutan.
