Tratamento da superdosagem de acepromazina em equino com laminite – relato de caso
Acepromazine is a tranquilizer commonly used in the equine species, producing a sedative effect without hypnosis, in addition, it also acts as a vasodilator, improving laminar perfusion, being used in cases of subacute, acute and chronic laminitis. The objective of this study is to report a case of overdose of acepromazine in a mare, the use of 0.2% acepromazine was indicated, but the owner did not pay attention and administered the 2% concentration, leading the animal to extreme drowsiness and recumbency. Subsequently, after veterinary medical care and specific therapy for the case, the mare recovered from the intoxication and after a few days her laminitis improved.
