Belt conveyor is a very important transport equipment in the coal mining operation. However, in the actual production scenario, some abnormal operation of belt conveyor may occur, and even lead to safety accidents. These abnormalities mainly include: belt idling without transporting material, belt deviation, foreign matters on the belt, and people are too close to the belt. In view of the above four abnormal situations, this paper uses computer vision and statistics related technology to monitor the operation of the belt conveyor in real time, and inform the staff of the abnormal information in the form of broadcast, that is to build a set of intelligent monitoring system based on computer vision.
