A induction machine with squirrel rotor cage is most commonly used by a rotating electric machine in all industries. Its indisputable advantage is a relatively low purchase price, low costs and easy maintenance. Another significant advantage is the ability to power in direct online supply in less demanding applications and ability to power supply in variable speed drive mode for demanding applications. The motor must be designed correctly for proper operation. One of the very important parameters are its start-up parameters and its relationship to the driven equipment. This paper therefore deals mainly with the optimization of the rotor shape and number of rotor shapes with respect to the parameters of the speed - torque characteristic. The main reason for the creation of this paper is that during the development of motors, was a problem with the value of the starting torque.
