Indonesia is the third developing country with the highest number of cigarette consumption in the world. The number of active smokers in Indonesia has increased by 8.8 million people, from 60.3 million, with a prevalence of 36.1% in 2011 to 69.1 million, with a prevalence of 33.5% in 2021.. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the policy plan to increase cigarettes on the amount of cigarette consumption in active smoker. This research is a quantitative research with analytic descriptive design through a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were all active smokers in Telanaipura District, Jambi City. The number of samples is 100 respondents using accidental sampling technique. The variables examined in this study are characteristics, policy plans to increase cigarette prices, and reduce cigarette consumption. The results of the study explained that the respondents had an average duration of smoking >20 years (43%), the number of cigarettes consumed was <10 cigarettes per day (83%), consumption of excise cigarettes (72%). And as much as 57% disagreed with the plan to increase cigarette excise, and as many as 79% agreed to reduce the amount of cigarette consumption.
