This article explains the configuration, integration, and verification of a LED SmartLight device based on IO-Link communication. The article also includes a description of the individual control blocks and instructions necessary for implementing such a signaling device. The simulation of the automated process (TIA Portal environment) preceded the experimental deployment in the existing robotic assembly cell of FESTO (FMS 500).
