An MRI scanner consists of several diverse technological components such as powerful static magnetic field, rapidly varying local gradient magnetic fields, pulsed radiofrequency (RF) field and liquid helium and/or liquid nitrogen. At present, there is no conclusive evidence for adverse biological effects in patients scanned by MRI.
