The overall mean FFMI was 23.50 ± 2.04 kg · m<sup>-2</sup>, with values ranging from 18.1-27.7 kg · m<sup>-2</sup>. FFMI was highest in linemen (24.8 ± 1.5 kg · m<sup>-2</sup>) and lowest in specialty players (20.6 ± 1.4 kg · m<sup>-2</sup>) (p<0.05). No differences in FFMI were apparent across age groups (p>0.05). Current findings demonstrate that an athlete's upper limit for FFMI may exceed 25 kg · m<sup>-2</sup>, and differences exist across positions, likely due to position-specific demands.
