This leads to poor patient quality of life and patient exposure to anemia treatments that have greater safety risks than IV iron. Solutions to this problem include increased educational efforts and considering alternative treatment models in which other providers separately manage CRA. Further advances in our knowledge regarding the formation and function of blood cells and blood-forming tissues should ensue, and it will be a major challenge for hematologists to adopt these new paradigms and develop integrated strategies to define the best possible patient care.
