Diplomática y gesto. El ejemplo de la documentación medieval valenciana

In the process of revitalisation of Diplomatic there is an area that has hardly been dealt with, although it is known and studied from other perspectives. It is the set of gestures and signs that used to be reflected some documentary typologies, rarely analysed in relation to the document itself, to which they are associated: touching with the hands, the ceremonial of taking possession; some relevant signs, such as the key, the book or the tree; privileged spaces; cutting the document to indicate multiple originals or their cancellation, and the materiality of the details. In this paper we seek to examine some of these gestures in the medieval documentation of the kingdom of Valencia. The reading of these gestures, together with the documents they accompany, allows us to improve the understanding of the meaning of the document in a specific society. En el proceso de revitalización de la Diplomática existe un ámbito apenas tratado, aunque conocido y estudiado desde otras perspectivas, se trata del conjunto de gestos y signos que suelen acompañar a algunas tipologías documentales, pocas veces analizado en relación con el mismo documento, al quese asocian: tocar con las manos, el ceremonial de las tomas de posesión; algunos signos relevantes, como la llave, el libro o el árbol; espacios privilegiados; cortar el documento para indicar originales múltiples o su cancelación, y la materialidad de los detalles. Con el presente trabajo pretendemos realizar una aproximación a algunos de estos gestos en la documentación medieval del reino de Valencia. La lectura de éstos, unidos a los documentos, a quienes acompañan, nos permite identificar mejor el significado del documento en una sociedad concreta.
