Lesser nobility in the Kingdom of Valencia in the Late Middle Ages is a topic that offer vast possibilities to research, which would enable us to recognize better the political evolution and relations of power in the aforesaid kingdom during the 14th and 15th centuries. Therefore, in this paper we’ll try to examinate the origins and familiar composition of the city of Valencia lesser nobility at the end of the 14th century and to understand the problematics of feud and elite unrest in this period through questions such as the wealth management and kinship or affinity relationships. La baja nobleza del reino de Valencia durante la baja edad media es un tema que ofrece grandes posibilidades para la investigación, lo que nos permitiría comprender mejor la evolución política y las relaciones de poder en el dicho reino durante los siglos XIV y XV. Por ello, en este artículo trataremos de analizar el origen y la composición familiar de la baja nobleza de la ciudad de Valencia a finales del siglo XIV y entender la problemática de los bandos y la conflictividad de las élites en este periodo a través de cuestiones como la gestión del patrimonio y las relaciones familiares o de afinidad.

This work aims to study and value the few original documents, and the seals that they carry and that have come down to us, issued by a character who has gone through something unnoticed in the history of the Church of Seville, the infante Don Felipe, son of Fernando III and brother of Alfonso X, the Wise. Despite such notable kingship, the figure of the person who was appointed to occupy the Seville archiepiscopal seat in the first place after the conquest of the city by Christian power, has always been overshadowed for various reasons. However, the few documents located present an interesting triple representation of the infant according to the different moments of his life curriculum. Although these pieces have been used as historical sources, they have never been studied by themselves. El objetivo del presente trabajo es estudiar y poner en valor los escasos documentos originales, y los sellos que portan y que han llegado hasta nosotros, emitidos por un personaje que ha pasado algo desapercibido en la historia de la Iglesia de Sevilla, el infante don Felipe, hijo de Fernando III y hermano de Alfonso X, el Sabio. A pesar de tan notable parentela, la figura del que fuera designado para ocupar la sede arzobispal hispalense en primer lugar tras la conquista de la ciudad por el poder cristiano ha estado siempre ensombrecida por varias razones. Sin embargo, los pocos documentos localizados presentan una interesantísima triple representación del infante acorde con los distintos momentos de su currículo vital. Estas piezas, si bien han sido utilizadas como fuentes históricas, no han sido nunca estudiadas por sí mismas.

This study seeks to analyse the religious politics that the king Alfonso V developed on the South of the Crown of Aragon, focusing on the suit for the episcopal autonomy in Orihuela. To this end, we will focus mainly on two elements: on the one hand, the performance of the king regarding the religious instability of the papacy during the 15th century and, on the other hand, the Mediterranean foreign policy of the monarch, and how his differences with the papacy affected the matter of Orihuela. En este estudio se pretende realizar un análisis sobre la política religiosa que desarrolló el rey Alfonso V sobre el territorio meridional de la Corona de Aragón, focalizando en el pleito por la autonomía episcopal de la Gobernación de Orihuela. Para ello nos vamos a centrar fundamentalmente en dos aspectos: por un lado, en la actuación del monarca ante la inestabilidad religiosa del papado durante el siglo XV y por otro, en la política exterior mediterránea del rey y cómo afectaron sus problemas con el pontificado a la cuestión oriolana.

This article deals primarily with the topic of what we may call the social and political role of the man of letters in a courtly context, as ideologue or in the production of documents. However, some of these court intellectuals were the rulers themselves and a few of them even produced their own texts, as auctores or as editors. They were reges scriptores. In order to achieve a better understanding of this key matter we have analysed together three interrelated topics: the chancery’s production of documents, royal patronage of book production and the royal authorship of texts, particularly the so-called ‘souverain auto-biographies’. Este trabajo gira en torno a lo que podríamos denominar el papel social y político del hombre de saber en el ámbito cortesano, sea como ideólogo sea como productor de documentación. Algunos de estos hombres de saber no es que sirvieran a un Príncipe, es que ellos mismos eran príncipes coronados y unos pocos de entre ellos incluso produjeron además su propia obra escrita, bien como auctores bien como editores. Fueron reges scriptores. Con el fin de comprender mejor este importante fenómeno hemos analizado de forma conjunta tres cuestiones interrelacionadas: la producción documental cancilleresca, el mecenazgo y/o recepción regia de libros y, por último, la propia autoría de textos por parte de los monarcas, en particular las llamadas ‘autobiografías soberanas’.
