The findings reveal that WhatsApp group video calls have been helpful for increasing learners’ speaking competence during the COVID-19 pandemic and promoting students' English speaking motivation. 摘要

WhatsApp群组视频通话的视听能力、语言和非语言内容,在促进英语学习者的口语发展方面具有很大的潜力。然而,WhatsApp群视频通话在多大程度上促进了英语学习动机和自我效能感,在多大程度上减少了英语口语焦虑、真实的自我评估,在多大程度上促进了师生数字素养的提高,文献尚未建立。因此,本研究旨在分析使用WhatsApp群组视频通话提高学生口语能力的效果,揭示该媒体对学生学习的影响程度。采用前/后测试两组定量解释研究设计,选取四个班级的119名学生进行研究。采用测试法和问卷法进行数据收集,然后使用SPSS 24.0软件对数据进行分析。研究结果表明,在新冠肺炎疫情期间,WhatsApp群视频通话有助于提高学习者的口语能力,促进学生的英语口语动机。考虑到所有这些优势,这项研究建议ESL/EFL口语教师在远程或在线英语口语课程中使用WhatsApp群视频通话。
