Between clicks and bits: assistive technologies in neuropsychological intervention (Entre clics y bits: tecnologías de apoyo en la intervención neuropsicológica)

ABSTRACT Today, the use of technologies is very common for most people. Technological advances and developments have improved quality of life and increased life expectancy. Research has shown that including information and communication technologies (ICT) and assistive technologies (AT) in neuropsychological intervention processes yields favourable results. Based on this framework, we present a work model by the Neuropsychology Service at the Centro de Desarrollo de Tecnologías de Inclusión [Centre for the Development of Inclusion Technologies] (CEDETi UC) which includes ICTs and ATs in neuropsychological interventions. Two emblematic cases are presented, in which the use of ATs and ICTs is key to reaching the objectives established with users, their families and the professionals who assisted them during rehabilitation. The results of these experiences have been essential to developing a work methodology and replicating work programmes with other users, at any stage of their cycle.
