Bilingual big book here refers to a big book with pictures created by the teachers. It uses teacher-made stories delivered in two languages: Bahasa Indonesia and English. Teacher-made stories are suggested for the character education so the stories can be adjusted with the students’ language abilities and preferences. Teacher made-stories also enable them to set the targeted moral values. In this paper, it will provide step-by-step activities to implement the bilingual big book in the classroom. It will also give some pedagogical recommendations for teachers to engage young learners in learning English. 摘要

品格教育和扫盲成为当今教育的突出问题,建议尽早教授。由于儿童在学习上具有独特的特点,因此往往需要特定的方法和媒介来使他们在课堂上参与进来。本文试图阐述运用双语大书进行包容性品格教育和双语素养课堂实践的实践思路。这里的双语大书是指教师自行制作的有图片的大书。它使用两种语言(印尼语和英语)讲述教师编写的故事。建议教师自编故事进行品格教育,故事可以根据学生的语言能力和喜好进行调整。教师制作的故事也使他们能够树立有针对性的道德价值观。本文将为双语大书在课堂上的实施提供循序渐进的活动。它还将为教师提供一些教学建议,以吸引年轻学习者学习英语。希望本文能对幼儿教师促进双语素养、植入品格教育有所裨益。
