Highly-sensitive all-optical in-band OSNR monitor using stimulated Brillouin scattering
We present a novel principle for all-optical monitoring of optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) that exploits the effect of in-band noise on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS). It shown for NRZ signals it can resolve OSNRs above 40 dB.
